Treasures in earthen vessels

Scriptures: 2nd Timothy 2:20-21; 2nd Corinthians 4 :7

The first scripture talks about many vessels of which some are of honor and others of dishonor. Comparing this to Christianity, we Christians, our bodies are these vessels, which were of dishonor when we had not accepted Christ, but now transformed to honor after being cleansed by the blood of Jesus, and repurposed for good work in the House of God

According to scripture, when Christ was with his disciples, these disciples were always dependent on Christ to do a lot of things for them, but once Christ ascended unto heaven, He gave us the opportunity for his spirit in the form of the Holy Spirit to come to quicken us, to equip us, to continue with the work that He has started. So, brethren, the Holy Spirit is already with us to do exploit and propel the name of God wherever we go.

In the second scripture read, 2nd Corinthians 4-7, the bible talked about treasures in earthen vessels.  These vessels refer to the human body, and the treasure is the Holy Spirit that comes unto us the human body. And when this treasure, which is the spirit comes into our bodies, any other thing associated with this mortal body is also redefined and gives us the power to do exploit. So, in everything that we do, lets acknowledge the power of God instead of our own strength or wisdom. This message comes this morning to remind us not to devalue the power of the Holy Spirit in our doings.

We should not let our faith be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God, as 1st Corinthians 2:5 tells us. It says in all that we do, we should both be reliant on the power of God and our faith should always be on Christ. And once we have total faith in God, God makes use of this vessel of us to do exploits in his church and in the outside world wherever we find ourselves.

Also, we have to be mindful of ourselves not to allow earthly pressures (such as unemployment, financial challenges, sickness among others) prevent us from becoming vessel to be used for the maximum benefit of God and to the church.

In the bible, we could see that, God did not look at the weaknesses of the people He used. Amidst their weaknesses he still used them regardless. He rather quickened their bodies to be used for his purpose. The first examples will be Moses in Exodus 3:11. Moses thought he was not a good fit for the job, but the spirit quicken him and he did exploit. So brethren, let’s always rely on the Holy spirit and not on our strengths or weaknesses. For whatever it may be, the spirit will help us to do exploit.

The second example is Gideon in Judges 6 :11-16, which talks about Gideon at the time the Israelites had deviated from the will of God, which led them into many afflictions. This is a message to us, to be mindful of the life we live. For living a life contrary to God’s way will give way to the devil to afflict us. God wanted to use Gideon to deliver the Israelites, and when the angel appeared to Gideon, he also gave excuses of being the least of his father’s house among others, hence he was not worthy the call. This message is trying to tell us to limit the excuses we give. For the spirit of God is with us and will be of help to us to do exploit.

GOD BLESS US ALL!!!
